Thrifty Thursday Linky Party #1
Welcome to the first Thrifty Thursday Linky Party on Playing With Words 365! I have never hosted a linky party before, so bare with me as I learn.
As a parent, I am always looking for great activities to do with my kids that are free or very low cost. In addition, as a speech pathologist, I am also always looking for activities that I can do with my students that are free or close to it because as most everyone knows, there isn’t a whole lot of extra money in education. So many activities that I have seen around other blogs can be adapted and used for so many different types of lessons. So if you are any kind of “educator” that is a parent, a homeschool parent, a preschool or elementary teacher or a speech pathologist- I think you will really enjoy the Thrifty Thursday Linky Party.
So, here is how it works:

- Link up a fun, kid centered learning activity (for ANY age birth through teen). Please be sure to link up to your actual post, and not your homepage.
- In this Linky Party, all linked posts will need to be about child centered activities that are free or virtually free. This means, the activity linked must provide a free printable or have a link to a free printable (either your own or someone else’s) OR the activity linked must use materials that are commonly found in the home or school environment (like paper, crayons, glue, paint, or any recycled materials like cardboard boxes, mason jars, milk cartons, egg cartons, etc), making it basically free to do (and green!) The activities can also be simple cooking activities using ingredients you typically have around the house, or may buy in season (like candy canes in December, for example). They can also be designed to go along with a book, even though the book itself is not free (but it can be if you get it at your local library!) So, pretty much any fun activity that would cost little to nothing to do at home!
- When you link up, please be sure to place my Thrifty Thursday button or a link back to my site somewhere on your site (in your sidebar, in a linky party page, or in the body of the individual post, for example). You can find it in my sidebar. This will help spread the word about the Thrifty Thursday and hopefully encourage other people to link up their awesome and free ideas too!
- Every week I will feature a few of my favorite activities from the week prior! (So, by linking up, you are granting me permission to use one picture from your post in the feature and to link to you). This is a great way for other people to learn about your great ideas and blog!
- I will come and visit every entry and comment!
- I would really appreciate if you would become a follower of my blog (Google Friend Connect is fine, but you can also do Facebook, Twitter, or Email..or go crazy and follow us in a couple different ways!), and I will follow you back. Leave me a comment letting me know you are a new follower and I will head over to your blog and check it out! I LOVE checking out new blogs and reading about all the cool things we all do with our kiddos!
- Please be sure to check out a few of the other linky submissions and leave them a comment letting them know you liked their activities and how your found them
I think that is it!
CHEERS!

Meet Katie

Hi there! I am so glad to have you here. I'm Katie...mama to two crazy kids and a speech pathologist trying to help parents help their children expand their speech and language skills through play, reading, music, crafts and other daily activities. Click here to read more about me…

Thanks for visiting my blog. I’ve only had time for a quick look around yours and I think I may find it very useful. My middle son turns 5 at the end of January. We’ve discussed seeing a speech therapist for him but as soon as we decide on it, he makes another leap! It’s frustrating but I still find him difficult to understand at times (usually when excited or really upset and he tends to talk in a high-pitched voice to which my brain automatically shuts down, it sounds like white noise). So anything to help him along helps me.
Nicole thanks so much for stopping by and linking up!. Please shoot me an email if you have some questions about your son. I am happy to hear he is making leaps though!

Hi Katie. Thanks for stopping by my blog and inviting me to your link party. I’ve added your button to my list so I’ll remember to stop by every week. I’m following you back also. I’m really excited about your link party and hope to find lots of new activities.
Oh, and yes I accidentally wrote my actual name submitting my link instead of the name of the activity. Haha! Silly me! You’d think I’d have it figured out after linking up a billion times since starting my blog, but nope, still makes mistakes!
Rachel thanks so much for coming by and linking up! And yes, I TOTALLY have made the name mistake before! No worries!

Hi Katie! Thanks for the invitation. I love your linky, and the fact that it encourages recycling and upcycling! I try to use “free” and recycled materials as much as I can when it comes to crafting in my daycare! So happy to have found you!
