Baby Sign Classes

I am excited to announce that I will be teaching Baby Signing Time classes starting Fall 2012! Class opportunities will include:

Baby Sign and Play (a parent-and-me Baby Signing Time Class): Description: Give your young one the gift of early communication! Come join us as we use music, stories, finger-plays, simple games, play, and other hands-on activities to teach our infants and toddlers American Sign Language! And have FUN while bonding with our little ones! Each week students and their parents will enjoy learning several new signs that can be incorporated into daily activities at home. Watch a whole new world open up for your child as he gains the ability to communicate about what he sees, hears, wants and needs through sign language! Parent participation required and materials included. Classes are once a week for 8 weeks and are designed for children under three years of age (older siblings welcome). Signing Time Workshop: This 90 minute workshop is designed for parents and/or professionals and provides information on the many benefits of signing with infants, toddlers, and children of ALL ages. Those who participate in this workshop will walk away having understanding of:

• The benefits of signing with hearing children
• Why we believe you should use American Sign Language vs. made up signs
• Why, When, What and How to sign to hearing children (overview)
• How to produce several signs
• Ways in which you can incorporate signing into daily activities such as reading, signing, bath time, meal time, etc.
• Benefits of taking classes
• The Signing Time! story

Private 1:1 Sign Language Instruction: I am available to provide 1:1 instruction of American Sign Language to your family both to hearing children, children with special needs, and those who are deaf or hard of hearing. For those with special needs, a speech and language evaluation may be needed prior to the beginning of these sessions. Please contact me for rates and availability.
