September 6, 2012 by Katie Filed Under: Books and Literacy Activities, Virtual Book Club 2012-2013 3 Comments

Well it is September..which means it is approaching my most favorite time of year…FALL! I am feeling quite refreshed after a little blogging/computer break (more on that later) but I wanted to stop in for a quick announcement that I am SO excited about! I am joining several other bloggers and am taking part in the Virtual Book Club for Kids!

Here is how it works: Toddler Approved, Mommy and Me Bookclub, and The Educators Spin on It are all co-hosting this amazing year long book club. They have worked together to pick 12 fantastic authors to spot light over the next 12 months. Each month all participating bloggers with pick a book written by the author of the month and will post activities to go along with the book. These may be crafts, games, language, math, fine motor, gross motor, cooking, etc. Then on the third Monday of every month, we will all be linking up our activities to share with everyone!

And guess what else? We’d love to have you join us! Head over to Toddler Approved right now to read more about how YOU can join us this year in the Virtual Book Club for Kids…and be sure to “like” the Virtual Book Club for Kids Facebook page to keep up to date on all the learning Fun!

And now…the Author picks for each month are… (click on the authors name to check out some of his/her books!)

September- Lois Ehlert

October- Amy Krouse Rosenthal

November- Tomie de Paola

December- Jan Brett

January- David McPhail

February- Dr. Seuss

March- Julia Donaldson

April- David Shannon

May- Leo Lionni

June- Gail Gibbons

July- Jez Alborough

August- Donald Crews

As soon as I publish this post…we are off to the library to pick up a couple more Lois Elhert books. Which ones are your favorites? Have you heard of all the authors above? I haven’t and am so excited to read some new books with my children and my speech clients!

So what are you waiting for!? Go grab some books and join us!
