The last couple months have been so very busy. I feel like I am way busier now that I was when I worked full time without kids! It seems like every other day we have something going on!
One of the things we have had going on was a big project.
Our Back Yard.
When we bought our home three years ago, the one thing we wanted to do was have the back yard completely ripped out and redone. The yard was…well…ugly…but most importantly it was impractical for a young family. There was a large deck that took up most of the space as well as very large planter boxes that lined the space. The deck itself was starting to fall apart with nails beginning to pop up and wood rotting underneath. There was no space for little ones to actually run around and play. No grass.
Then there was the odd placement of concrete and pavers…it was like an ugly patchwork quilt!
So finally after three years, we took the plunge and hired a landscaping company to come out and redo the entire space. The project was finally officially complete this last Friday and we LOVE IT!!!! And I wanted to share what we did!!
The Before
The After
And then…this little beauty was left by the last owners of the house and it was so hideous we just had to keep it.
What We Had Done
- Everything ripped out, including the rear deer fence
- New patio (pavers) and walk way
- Rock wall
- Sod
- Planter boxes
- New plants planted
- New irrigation system
- Mulch
- Play Area (My husband put the play house and climber together)
- New deer fence (we pushed it back about 3-4 feet up the hill from the original)
- New plants in the front yard (not pictured)
- New concrete patio (extended original) in front yard (not pictured)
It was a HUGE project and we are SO HAPPY with it!! What do you think? If you could take on a big home project right now, what would you have done?
LOVE IT! It looks so nice. I’m sure you kids love it and you’ll probably be spending more time in your backyard. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jen…we are having a blast!!
I can hardly believe my eyes! The transformation… it’s beautiful!
