Life is Hard, Beautiful, and Painful

July 9, 2014 by Katie Filed Under: Family Life 11 Comments

Sometimes, life is hard. Sometimes, it is beautiful. Sometimes, it is painful.

The last few weeks have been painful for my family.

A few weeks ago, my heathy, happy, full of life father in law became suddenly very ill and passed away a few days later. His illness and passing were rare, sudden, tragic and heartbreaking. Our family is grieving the loss of an incredible husband, father, brother, friend, mentor, and Yeh-Yeh (grandfather in Chinese).

My children were very close to their yeh-yeh as were my nephews. My father in law lived his life for his family but especially for his 5 grandchildren.

As my family starts to pick up the pieces and find a “new normal”, things will be a bit slow around here. I do hope to get some posts up eventually and I do have some dear blogging friends who will be sharing here over the next couple months to help me out and to provide YOU with some great information! So stay tuned.

We appreciate the thoughts, vibes, and/or prayers from all of you at this time.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father-in-law. I know how hard it was when my father-in-law passed away- I didn’t lose a Father-in-law, I lost a dad. In fact, he taught at the same school and he would always introduce me as his daughter:) Then, in two more years, we lost my mom and my husband’s mom too. All to cancer. My prayers are with you and your entire family as you navigate through the processes of grief. And please give yourself the grace to grieve when and how you need to. You’re right- life is beautiful and hard, and it is beautiful because of the people we share it with and hard because we have to let them go sometimes. What you choose to keep of him is what will determine how you grieve and live from here on out.
I’m sorry if it sounds like I’m lecturing! It’s just that my heart goes out to you and I wish I could do something to help you through this. I wish you and your family grace, peace and comfort. My prayers will be with you.

So sorry for your loss and your pain at this time. I’m sure things are especially acute right now as things have had some time to sink in so I wanted to pop by and say that I am praying for you and your family.

I am doing an assignment on the Question Are the ways we write using new technologies damaging written English. I have been around this website several times and I can’t find any information on where you gained your degrees what your last name is and whether you really do exist. I cannot submit your comments if I have no clue as to who you are. Please let me know that you do exist. Your comments are useless without them. PLEASE!

      Hello Jennifer,

You will not find that information on my blog as that is private, personal information. Perhaps you meant to say something like “Thank you so much for the information on your site. I’d like to reference your writings in a paper I am writing. May I have your last name for reference purposes?” The best way to contact me to ask permission to use personal, private information would be via email: katie@playingwithwords365.com.
